The founder of Form Nutrition on juggling work, pleasure and leisure Do you think you have a good work/life balance? For me it's about work/life integration. When everything is integrated, you don't need balance. What prompted you to launch Form? I was interested in disrupting the nutrition space. I didn't understand why traditional protein powders were marketed the way they were, why no one was thinking of nutrition as more than just a protein shake after the gym and why none of the brands were beautiful or aspirational and thinking about performance in a more holistic way. So I set out to create a beautiful, vegan protein powder that elevated the idea of nutrition, gave back and didn't compromise on any aspect of taste. How do you stay active? I lift weights. I'm fairly old school; a traditional push/pull type routine around the major exercises. I've run, swim, cycled and done yoga for many years but weights is the one thing that's always stuck. Recently I've also become addicted to Peleton! How important is it for you to include nature in your life? Very. I grew up by the sea and also spent a lot of time in the countryside. I'm a firm believer that walking is a man’s best medicine. Everything is better after a walk. You'll often find me strolling in Hyde Park. How much do you look after your diet? I try to find the balance between food as a fuel and food as a pleasure. As a fan of plant-based products – have you heard of/tried CBD oil at all? In my position I'm very aware of the latest research and obviously CBD's been something of a darling recently. I've used higher strength extracts on and off for the last 18 months or so. For me, the big benefits are mood and sleep. How easy do you find it to relax and what are your favourite ways to switch off? I think I find it quite easy to relax. To switch off I read, workout or meditate. Do you get enough sleep and what helps you get a good night’s sleep? I'm obsessed by sleep and it's a priority for me. I use an Oura sleep tracker and also our ZZZZs sleep supplement, it's combination of 5-HTP, magnesium, zinc and calming amino acids ensure I fall asleep fast and get a regenerative sleep. I get about 7-8 hours a night. Where do you feel most calm? By the sea, after Peleton or in savasana!
